The Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, University of Baghdad, held a scientific workshop entitled (The Use of English Language in Mathematical Terminology and Sports Law), which was presented by the English language teachers in the Theoretical Sciences Branch, Eng. Nibal Ahmed Eng. Enaam Ghalib and Eng. Nour Riad.
The teachers explained the importance of the English language and its role in unifying terms and laws at the international level, as the use of language has become common and necessary to ensure communication and common understanding among all participants in the sports field, explaining how the language of sports is considered universal because it is considered historical factors, organizational control and standardization of terminology.
They also mentioned the impact of sports laws written in English in a unified legal framework and ensuring fair play and conflict resolution and reviewed the most important English applications used in team games such as handball, basketball, volleyball, and football.
The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which is that English is the cornerstone to ensure unification and mutual understanding in sports worldwide, contributes to strengthening unity and developing communication in international sports events, encourages the inclusion of materials and training in English for athletes to enhance their competitiveness at the global level.
