The Central Library at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop in English titled “Reading Poems: Writing a Poem,” presented by Lecturer Dr. Fawziya Mousa Ghanem and Trainer Dina Emad Kataa. The workshop focused on defining poetry and its importance in language learning, explaining the role of poetry in enhancing English language skills, reading poems, discussing their themes, analyzing poems, and connecting them to both public and personal life.
The aim of the workshop was to encourage participants to speak and express their thoughts and critical opinions in English, as well as to break the barriers of fear and shyness and foster interaction among the audience. The workshop stood out for its enthusiastic atmosphere, allowing participants to express themselves fluently in English, which further fueled their passion for learning and sharing their experiences.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity, which helped them engage positively and acquire new skills. They emphasized the importance of continuing such workshops to improve their linguistic and critical abilities. They also commended the efforts of the organizers and hoped for more events that blend learning with creativity.
