The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing cooperation in the field of higher education with Iraq, during the reception of the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, during his official visit to Japan to discuss prospects for academic and scientific collaboration between the two countries.

The Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister of Japan, Hirofumi Miyani, expressed the determination of the Japanese government’s support programs for foreign countries to provide further assistance to Iraq’s higher education sector through academic exchange programs, research capacity development, and offering scholarships to Iraqi students at Japanese universities.

This initiative comes as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and Japan, which extend into various fields, including education, technology, and energy. This partnership is expected to lead to new initiatives that will contribute to supporting the educational process and achieving sustainable development in Iraq.

The meeting was attended by Prof.Dr. Ali Abdul Ameer, Dean of the College of Arts, Dr. Mahmmoud Al-Qaisi, Professor at the College of Arts, and the Cultural Attaché at the Iraqi Embassy in Tokyo, Mrs. Anwar Al-Essa.
