The Human Rights Department at the Presidency of the University of Baghdad organized an academic visit to the National Office of the High Commission for Human Rights, under the supervision of Dr. Asmaa Jameel Rashid, Head of the Human Rights Department at the university, as part of the research team assigned to prepare a study on the integration of human rights within higher education institutions.
The purpose of the visit was to gain insights into the Commission’s experience and its tasks, as well as to understand the key standards related to integrating human rights in educational institutions, which would assist the research team in completing their study on the integration of human rights at the University of Baghdad.
The Human Rights Department team toured the Commission’s departments, including the Monitoring and Complaints Section, where they learned about the mechanisms for reporting and addressing complaints. Additionally, they visited the Commission’s library, which houses an extensive collection of specialized books available to undergraduate and graduate students.
At the conclusion of the visit, an agreement was made to establish a collaboration mechanism between the Human Rights Department at the University of Baghdad and the High Commission for Human Rights. This collaboration aims to build capacities and promote a culture of human rights within the university, thereby strengthening its leadership role in this field.
This step is part of the University of Baghdad’s ongoing efforts to enhance its role as an educational institution committed to instilling the principles of human rights among its students and faculty, in alignment with national and international standards.
