The University of Baghdad has topped the Iraqi universities in the Transparency Ranking for 2025, issued by the Higher Council for Scientific Research in Spain.
This ranking is based on the number of citations of researchers in academic institutions, relying on their Google Scholar profiles. The number of citations for the University of Baghdad in the ranking increased from 147751 to 191117 within one year, showing a growth of 29.35%.
The number of Iraqi universities that passed the Transparency Ranking increased from 56 to 66 within the same period. The University of Baghdad led with 191117 citations, followed by the University of Technology in second place with 153654 citations, and Al-Mustansiriya University in third place with 102789 citations.
The University of Baghdad moved up from rank 1410 to 1381 globally, while the total number of ranked universities increased from 5368 to 6181 within one year.
