The Iraqi National Cancer Research Center, at the University of Baghdad organized a scientific symposium titled “Methamphetamine and Its Impact on Mental and Physical Health: Between Addiction and Destructive Effects,” coinciding with Drug Addiction Awareness Week. The event was presented by Dr. Azal Hammoudi Jumaa.
The activity aimed to clarify the symptoms of amphetamine use and how dosage changes affect the severity of resulting symptoms. It also provided an overview of withdrawal symptoms that may arise from stopping the drug and explained the mechanisms of amphetamine addiction from a pharmacological perspective.
In conclusion, the symposium addressed the broader issue of drug addiction, highlighting the dangers of dependency and the difficulty of treatment, which can only be effectively addressed in specialized centers under the supervision of experts.
