The Center for Educational and Psychological Research at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop titled “Awareness of the Drug Phenomenon,” presented by Assist.Lecturer Zainab Mohammed Ali, Assist.Lecturer Nasr Thabit, and Assistant Lecturer Ruaa Kazem Abdullah.
The event aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and its negative effects on individuals and society, highlighting the various types of drugs and their mechanisms of impact on the body and mind. Additionally, it focused on analyzing the underlying causes that might lead individuals to substance abuse, such as psychological pressures, social environment, and other contributing factors.
The workshop concluded with several important recommendations, including utilizing media platforms and employing various media tools such as videos and digital content to enhance engagement and spread awareness. It also emphasized involving specialists, such as inviting psychiatrists, sociologists, and law enforcement officers, to provide accurate and reliable information. Furthermore, it encouraged active participation through organizing discussion sessions, giving participants the opportunity to interact, ask questions, and share their experiences.
