The President of the University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr.Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, presented a collection of academic works prepared by the University of Baghdad in the field of Japanese studies to several Japanese institutions. The initiative aims to highlight the outcomes of joint Japanese-Iraqi scientific research conducted since 2005.

The gifts included a dissertation titled “Buddhism and Shinto in Japan: An Anthropological Study ” by researcher Mohammed Baqir from the College of Arts. The dissertation was handed over during a meeting between the Iraqi delegation and the head of the institution, Professor Kurosara Senya, as it represents the first study of its kind within Arab universities.

The University President also met with Professor Eiji Nagasawa of the University of Tokyo and Professor Toru Miura, a researcher at the Toyo Bunko Institute. During the meeting, he presented Professor Nagasawa with another dissertation titled “Eiji Nagasawa and the Study of Modern Egyptian History” by researcher Yasser Alaa Aswad from the College of Arts.

The Japan Foundation and the University of Tokyo expressed their appreciation for the role of the University of Baghdad in advancing Japanese studies and the Japanese language. They emphasized the potential for enhanced cooperation, including plans to establish a Japanese language department at the University of Baghdad within the current year.
