The Department of Philosophy, in cooperation with the Scientific Affairs Unit, held a scientific workshop entitled (Human Rights between Islamic Thought and Western Thought) in which Dr. Ammar Abdel Kazim, Dr. Hussein Hadi, Dr. Muhammad Hato, and Dr. Ali Faleh lectured, in the presence of a number of professors.
The workshop aimed to introduce human rights in Islamic thought, demonstrate the achievement of divine justice, preserve human dignity, and achieve a balance between rights and duties, as emphasized by the Qur’anic text, Islamic doctrine, and jurisprudence, as well as protecting the values of difference and life of man and building a human society based on freedom and democracy. Ensure the maintenance of social and economic progress.
The workshop came out with many recommendations, including recommending the convergence of views between Islamic thought and Western thought on human rights through cultural and religious dialogue, as well as the development of comprehensive human rights laws through the development of political, social, and economic frameworks, as well as urging communication at the media and cultural level and supporting organizations based on mutual understanding in the field of human rights.
