PhD students, Department of Public Relations at the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad, organized a scientific symposium entitled “Towards a Strategic Vision to Activate Sustainable Development Programs in Iraq until 2030”, with the participation of a group of academics and researchers specialized in the fields of sustainable development.

In his opening speech, the Head of the Public Relations Department stressed “the importance of the role played by academic studies in formulating public policies and achieving sustainable development goals,” noting that “such seminars enhance community awareness and support national development efforts.”

The seminar, which was attended by students and faculty members, aimed to shed light on strategic programs that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals in accordance with Iraq’s Vision 2030.

It included several lectures and discussion sessions on various topics, most notably enhancing cooperation between different sectors, the role of media and public relations in spreading the culture of sustainability, as well as discussing development challenges in Iraq and ways to overcome them.

The seminar came out with a set of recommendations, including the need to involve the private sector and civil society in achieving sustainable development and working to improve the infrastructure and legislation necessary to support development projects.

The symposium concluded by honoring the participating academics and thanking the attendees, while stressing the continued organization of such scientific events aimed at supporting sustainable development plans in Iraq.
