The Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Student Activities Division at the College of Arts, University of Baghdad, organized a training workshop titled “The Importance of Healthy Food in Human Life.” The workshop was presented by Prof.Dr. Wessal Sabeeh Kareem, Head of the Sports Activity Unit at the College of Arts, and featured guest speaker Prof.Dr. Mohammed Kazem Khalaf from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Baghdad. The event was attended by faculty members, staff, and students.

The activity aimed to highlight the importance of healthy food in human life and its role in boosting immunity and resilience against diseases. It also explained how to classify a balanced diet within daily meals, as well as providing precise equations to calculate an individual’s ideal weight, determine levels of obesity or underweight, and calculate the necessary daily caloric intake based on individual needs and physical activity. The workshop further focused on balancing calories consumed and burned through balanced meals containing proteins, carbohydrates, healthy fats, and other nutritional components.

The workshop recommended selecting a balanced diet based on age, economic status, and physical activity using accurate scientific formulas, while avoiding random food choices and relying on healthy dietary plans. It emphasized the importance of staying updated with recent studies in nutrition science to improve food choices, regulate meal timings, practice physical activity, and adopt healthy alternatives to achieve a better quality of life.
