The College of Science for Women at the University of Baghdad participated in a significant scientific symposium organized by the College of Dentistry, University of Baghdad. The symposium focused on analyzing the research metrics of the University of Baghdad according to the Web of Science (WoS), one of the globally recognized databases used for university rankings.
The event opened with a lecture by Dr. Omar Faleh, Director of the Quality Assurance and Academic Performance Department at the University of Baghdad. His lecture highlighted the key indicators and criteria used in the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities, one of the most credible and widely adopted global academic rankings.
The symposium discussed the research performance indicators of the University of Baghdad and explored ways to improve its standing in global rankings. This included strategies to increase the number of publications in prestigious journals, encourage researchers to target highly ranked journals, and emphasize the quality and scientific impact of research.
The activity concluded with recommendations aimed at enhancing research infrastructure, motivating faculty members and researchers to publish in reputable international journals, and elevating the university’s ranking and reputation on the global stage.
