The Remote Sensing Unit, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop titled “Information Security and Cybersecurity.” The event was held under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Assist.Prof. Dr. Raed Faleh Hassan, and attended by students, faculty members, and specialists in computer software.

The event aimed to enhance understanding of cyber threats and the risks faced by institutions. It focused on mastering the fundamentals of Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) to protect organizations from cyberattacks. Participants explored key principles of data protection, handling social engineering techniques, identifying and addressing software vulnerabilities, and implementing appropriate security solutions to mitigate risks. Additionally, the workshop analyzed the relationship between physical security and IT security, and introduced tools for identity management, such as multi-factor authentication and password management best practices.

The activity highlighted the basics of information security and cybersecurity, explaining methods for safeguarding data in the digital age, key challenges in cybersecurity, and essential skills for building robust defenses against cyber threats. Advanced strategies for protecting institutions and individuals were also reviewed.
