The Department of Physics, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop titled “The Mechanism of Scientific Solidity”. The event was held under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Assist.Prof.Dr. Raed Faleh Hassan, and attended by several postgraduate students, faculty members, and individuals concerned with scientific affairs.

The event aimed to introduce the concept of rigorous journals, explain what constitutes predatory, commercial, and deceptive journals, and guide attendees on how to select credible journals and verify their authenticity for publishing. It also addressed the mechanisms for publishing scientific research in global indexing databases like Scopus and Clarivate.

The workshop, presented by Prof.Dr. Ali Abdul Latif, Prof.Dr. Kazem Abdul Wahid, and Dr. Israa Adnan, covered topics including the criteria for selecting reputable journals, filling out the scientific rigor form, avoiding publication in commercial and deceptive journals, and the essential steps for verifying the credibility of scientific journals and publishers. The speakers emphasized the importance of avoiding predatory and commercial journals to prevent wasting academic efforts and to elevate the standards of scientific publishing, thus supporting the university’s inclusion in global rankings.

The activity concluded with recommendations for sincere efforts in research, caution in journal selection, and enhancing knowledge of reputable scientific publishing practices. It stressed the importance of publishing in credible, globally recognized journals and avoiding non-rigorous and profit-driven publications.
