The College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad organized a training workshop titled “Damage Control Surgery in Trauma Injuries: Knowledge and Practical Applications,” with the participation of a select group of general surgeons, emergency physicians, and intensive care specialists.
The event focused on developing both basic and advanced skills for managing critical trauma injuries, with an emphasis on bleeding control strategies, patient stabilization, and their transfer to intensive care units for continued treatment. The workshop included intensive hands-on sessions supervised by experts, during which the latest advancements in trauma surgery were presented. Real-life cases were discussed, and best practices for managing physiological challenges such as acidosis and hypoxia were applied.
The workshop targeted general surgeons, candidates for the Iraqi and Arab boards, emergency physicians, intensive care specialists, operating room nurses, and medical students interested in trauma surgery, with the goal of enhancing their knowledge and refining their skills in managing critical cases.
