The Department of Energy Engineering at the College of Engineering participated in the workshop held by the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce / Department of Entrepreneurship entitled “Strategies for Developing Renewable Energy and the Future of Sustainability” in the presence of a group of experts and academics in the field of renewable energy as well as representatives of specialized companies to discuss the latest developments in this vital sector and the challenges facing the application of clean energy technologies in Iraq.

The workshop dealt with several important axes, including discussing the causes of the chronic energy crisis in Iraq and ways to solve it through sustainable solutions, presenting the positive advantages of solar energy and its role in relieving pressure on traditional electrical networks, highlighting the job opportunities provided by the solar energy industry and its impact on the national economy, while providing practical examples of low-cost applications of solar energy suitable for personal and institutional use. They also reviewed medium-sized solar power generation projects and their role in supporting infrastructure, as well as the future vision of major projects that rely on solar energy and contribute to achieving self-sufficiency.

The workshop aims to achieve key objectives, most notably identifying the latest technologies in the field of renewable energy, promoting best practices for implementing clean energy projects on the ground and providing innovative solutions to overcome the challenges associated with the transition to renewable energy sources.
