The President of the University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, honored several distinguished faculty members from the College of Science for Women, including the Assistant Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Assist.Prof.Dr. Yusra Abdul Sahib Saif Al-Din; Editor-in-Chief of the Baghdad Science Journal, Prof.Dr. Fikrat Majid Hassan; and Assistant Lecturer Marwa Raad from the Department of Chemistry.
The recognition took place during the central ceremony held at the University of Baghdad in the College of Medicine’s hall. It also included several faculty members from other colleges for their outstanding scientific achievements, particularly for publishing original research in Scopus-indexed journals classified as Q1—one of the highest global scientific indices.
These research contributions played a significant role in the University of Baghdad securing first place nationally and 20th regionally in the Times Higher Education ranking, marking the highest ranking in the history of Iraqi universities. Additionally, the university was ranked among the top 5% of the most impactful universities in the Arab world.
The ceremony celebrated the achievements of distinguished researchers who contributed to this success by awarding them the University of Baghdad Excellence Shield. This recognition underscores the university’s gratitude for their scientific efforts and reaffirms the importance of continuing to improve research performance and publish in high-quality scientific journals, thereby strengthening the regional and global standing of the University of Baghdad.
