The Media and Government Communication Division at the College of Languages, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment – Development Department, organized an awareness seminar entitled “The Danger of Oil Pollutants and their Impact on the Health of the Citizen”, in which Eng. Basma Fadel Khalaf lectured, in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Languages, Prof. Dr. Ali Adnan Mashoush and a number of faculty, employees, and students of the College.
The seminar aimed to achieve sustainable development goals by reducing the risk of oil pollutants and moving towards cleaner energy that is more sustainable by raising awareness of the dangers of environmental pollution resulting from the extraction and use of oil and its effects on the health of citizens.
The symposium recommended the need for the environment in Iraq to pause scientifically and reconsider the protection and improvement of the environment while transforming patterns of dealing with natural resources into a sustainable development pattern through sound environmental management, and working on the need to develop oil industries with the localization of modern technologies for the production of difficult oil reservoirs in a way that addresses the problem of oil pollution, as well as diversifying sources of energy production and consumption through increasing the exploitation of natural gas.
