The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, University of Baghdad, Organizes a Scientific Workshop on “SMART Goals for Fourth- and Fifth-Year Students”

The workshop was presented by Prof.Dr. Sundus Mousa Jawad, a faculty member in the Team Sports Branch. Dr. Sundus explained the concept of SMART goals as a powerful tool for students, enabling them to achieve academic and personal success, develop time management skills, and boost motivation and self-confidence. She highlighted their importance in providing clarity, focus, motivation, goal attainability, organization, personal development, confidence, success, and decision-making.

She categorized SMART goals into personal, academic, professional, social, and health-related goals, emphasizing the need to formulate goals that are specific, relevant, and time-bound. Dr. Sundus also outlined the process of creating a mental map for goal-setting, which includes identifying the goal, aligning it with SMART criteria, sharing goals on a board, implementing activities, conducting evaluations, monitoring progress, and encouraging students. She noted that the map can be created using either digital or paper-based tools and applied in a practical manner through brainstorming sessions and structured goal-setting worksheets. This workshop aligns with one of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4: Quality Education.
