The College of Administration and Economics, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, the Department of Business Administration, the Artistic Activities Unit, the Ministry of Environment, and the Baghdad Municipality/Adhamiyah Directorate, organized a Cultural Festival in celebration of World Soil Day under the theme: “Our Land is Calling: Let’s Preserve It.”

The festival featured a range of diverse activities. The event was inaugurated by the Dean of the College, Prof.Dr.Sabah Munfi Rida, who launched the Environmental Preservation Festival commemorating World Soil Day. The program included exhibitions of posters and artwork promoting environmental sustainability, aiming to raise public awareness and encourage community members to adopt environmentally friendly practices such as recycling, the use of renewable energy, conservation of natural resources, and the showcasing of eco-friendly products. Additionally, the Baghdad Municipality/Adhamiyah Directorate contributed by organizing a tree-planting and flower-planting campaign across the college campus.

As part of the festival, the Dean also opened an Art Exhibition organized by the Artistic Activities Unit, which showcased an impressive selection of student artwork. The pieces included pencil and charcoal drawings on paper, oil paintings on canvas, and acrylic paintings on canvas.

The festival concluded with a lecture delivered by Senior Engineer Ali Jaber Lafita from the Ministry of Environment, addressing the topic of environmental pollution and the risks associated with industrial development. The lecture provided an overview of the types of environmental pollutants, their impact on the lives of Iraqi citizens, and the measures implemented by the Ministry to mitigate pollution.

In recognition of the participants’ efforts, the Dean presented certificates of appreciation to acknowledge their contributions in raising environmental awareness and inspiring individuals to take concrete steps toward environmental preservation. The Environmental Festival organized by the College represents a forward-thinking initiative, leaving a significant positive impact on both students and the community by fostering a culture of environmental awareness. This impact was evident through the active participation of students in the festival, contributing to building a better future for upcoming generations.
