The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad held a training course entitled (Mastering Reformulation and Summarizing Skills for Academics) by three teachers, namely the teacher Dr. Wissam Hazem Selo, the teacher Dr. Rami Ali Taqi and the teacher Dr. Safaa Abdul Rasoul with the participation of a number of professors and employees of the Institute.
The course aimed to enable participants to improve participants writing and communication skills by learning how to effectively paraphrase texts. The course dealt with the ultimate goal of avoiding plagiarism and how to reformulate information in new ways to avoid copying texts directly, as well as clarifying ideas as improving the ability to express ideas clearly and in multiple ways, as well as developing vocabulary by enhancing the stock of words and phrases by searching for appropriate alternatives for each concept.
The course recommended the need to conduct a variety of reading through frequent reading on different topics that help develop the writing style and improve vocabulary. She also recommended paraphrasing practice by experimenting with rewriting paragraphs in different ways to improve your ability to express.
The course emphasized the use of proofreading tools through the use of proofreading tools to correct spelling and grammatical errors.
