The College of Languages at the University of Baghdad inaugurated the activities of the Italian Language Week in the World in cooperation with the Embassy of Italy in Iraq under the title (The Italian Language and the Book: A World Between the Lines), in the presence of the Ambassador of Italy Nicolo Fontana, accompanied by the Cultural Attaché at the Embassy, Dr. Claudia Gata and a number of professors and students of the college.
In his speech, the Ambassador of Italy thanked the Deanship of the College and the Department of Italian Language for the good organization of this event, which is supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and organized every year around the world, stressing the happiness of the embassy with this scientific partnership with the College of Languages at the University of Baghdad.
The week included several scientific events, the most important of which were two lectures by Dr. Giuseppe Maugheri from the University of Urbino, on the importance of the book and literary text in teaching Italian, and another lecture by Professor Ahmed Al-Asadi – former professor of translation in the Italian language department – on the role of translation as a bridge between cultures, as well as the establishment of a training course in Italian language by Professor Maugheri for students of the department.
The delegation praised the scientific level of the students of the department, their style of dialogue, the high possibility of linguistic perception, and their good commitment to be qualified to win the study bags granted to students of the College of Languages, between short and long-term scholarships.
