Al-Kindi College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad organized an awareness seminar on (the dangers of drugs to protect society). It was delivered by the teacher, Dr. Wassan Abdul Razzaq Gharbi, with the participation of Colonel Mortada Abboud Mahdi and Major Dr. Ayman Abdul Sattar Dagher, representatives of the Criminal Laboratories Department, in the presence of specialists from the Criminal Evidence Investigation Directorate.

The seminar aimed to demonstrate the devastating impact of drugs on the individual, family, and society, as well as its economic and social harms. The symposium dealt with the concept of drugs, their types, and the factors leading to their abuse, with a review of real examples from society. During the symposium, pictures of plants used in the manufacture of drugs and their transmission methods, and their impact on domestic violence crimes were shown. The role of institutions in raising awareness of the dangers of drugs was clarified as well as the need for official and popular cooperation to combat this phenomenon.

At its conclusion, the symposium recommended the formation of specialized committees to study the problem, strengthening support for the establishment of treatment clinics, and developing educational curricula to enhance community awareness in addition to the importance of the role of the family in monitoring children and providing a healthy and social environment that prevents them from slipping into drug abuse. The seminar also called on the media to raise awareness among parents on how to detect early behaviors associated with drug use.
