The Department of Sociology at the College of Arts, University of Baghdad, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior’s Relations and Media Directorate, organized an educational awareness workshop titled “Raising Awareness of the Dangers of Drugs and the Role of the Ministry of Interior in Community Drug Prevention.” This event was held in conjunction with the National Week for Drug Awareness.
The workshop featured lectures by the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, as well as the official spokesperson for the Security Media Cell, Brigadier General and legal expert Muqdad Miri Hassan Al-Moussawi, accompanied by Major Ali Mohsen, Captain Noor Tawfiq Hadi, Professor Yusuf Abadi, and Dr. Rasoul Al-Mutlaq. The event was attended by several faculty members and staff from the college.
The objective of the workshop was to inform students, graduate students, faculty members, and some staff about the dangers of drug use on individuals, families, and society.
Furthermore, the workshop included an introduction to the provisions of the Anti-Drug and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2014, as well as an explanation of the Ministry of Interior’s preventive role and its security-based treatment efforts through rehabilitation centers, alongside community initiatives to raise awareness of the dangers of this serious issue.
