The Division of Graduate Studies at the College of Arts at the University of Baghdad organized a training workshop entitled “Scientific Citation”. Prof. Dr. Munther Ali Abdel Malik, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies, and teacher Dr. Sajjad Hassan Alwan lectured, in the presence of a number of graduate students.

The workshop aimed to develop the skills of graduate students attending the University of Baghdad and the rest of the Iraqi universities in writing sober academic scientific research, by introducing scientific citation and indicating its types and sound steps, because of its importance in increasing the quality of research, protecting the academic researcher from scientific theft and facilitating the return to original research sources.

The workshop came out with many recommendations, most notably that scientific citation enhances the credibility of the researcher and imparts scientific evidence to his research. It also raises the researcher’s H-Index in global containers, and thus it raises the ranking of his university among international universities. It also recommended the need to stay away from scientific theft and work to complete solid studies that meet the labor market and come up with real solutions to scientific problems.
