The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized a specialized workshop that dealt with a dangerous phenomenon that threatens thought and belief in our society, which is the promotion of atheism through social media platforms.
The workshop shed light on the negative effects of this increasing phenomenon, and how to confront it with science and argument, as well as warning of the dangers of promoting atheism on social networking sites, as it poses a direct threat to our children and youth, as atheists take advantage of easy access to information and spread misconceptions to question religious beliefs, and also pointed to the reasons for the spread of this phenomenon, which is due to several factors, including the weakness of religious scruples among some, the spread of rumors and false news, the exploitation of the intellectual vacuum among young people, and ways to confront.
The workshop stressed the need for concerted efforts to confront the danger of promoting atheism and urged the importance of constructive dialogue and dealing with this phenomenon rationally and wisely, as well as the need to develop a contemporary religious discourse that answers the questions of young people and strengthens their faith.
