The Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled (Illegal immigration and its impact on Iraqi society) Paying attention to the issue of illegal immigration and giving it great importance to limit its spread recently by developing posters and awareness publications that limit this negative phenomenon. A number of professors and researchers attended the workshop under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Alaa Nafi Jassim, Director of the Center, and Dr. Compliance Kazem Sarhan, a teacher at the Center, who presented the lecture.
In addition to the state’s inability to employ its citizens, high unemployment rates and the shift in the balance of work in the private sector favor expatriate workers, as employers prefer the expatriate worker through illegal immigration due to his low wages and low requirements.
The workshop concluded by reviewing the suffering of Iraqi society from illegal immigration from inside Iraq to Europe and neighboring countries in search of safety and job opportunities, as well as the political, security, and economic conditions witnessed by Iraq during the past three decades, which led to the migration of scientific competencies in search of a better future.
