The Department of English Language at the College of Languages organized a scientific symposium entitled “Contemporary English Literature” with the participation of teachers (Prof. Dr. Hala Salman Hassan, Dr. Maysaloon Khaled Ali, Eng. Rabie Amer Saleh) and in the presence of a number of college and staff of the college.
The seminar aimed to promote a deep understanding of what the contemporary English novel addresses, reflect on the role of science in English literature, encourage critical and analytical debate, as well as examine the strategies used in translating literary texts, and highlight the role of the translator as a cultural mediator.
The researchers recommended the need to explore how the novel addresses topics such as gender, science, and personal identity within a broader context of modern literature, as well as asking questions, the most important of which is how science can be a literary subject and how it can enrich modern literature by adding an educational and philosophical dimension and studying topics in which the novel intersects with contemporary issues such as gender equality and overcoming difficulties in work environments.
