The Scientific Affairs Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences for Women, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific symposium titled “Drugs and Their Legal Adaptation.” The seminar was presented by faculty members from the Department of Theoretical Sciences, Lecturer Rasha Waleed Taha and Assistant Lecturer Noor Ali Kazem.
The event focused on two main aspects. The first, presented by Lecturer Rasha Waleed, introduced the concept of drugs, their types, symptoms, and the methods used for prevention.
The second session was presented by Lecturer Noor on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. (50) of 2017, covering the types and penalties associated with these substances, as well as the differences between consumption, possession, and trafficking.
The symposium concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which are: enhancing awareness of the dangers of drugs through media and schools, establishing rehabilitation and support centers for addicts seeking treatment, tightening border controls to prevent drug trafficking, and enforcing harsher penalties on dealers and traffickers to ensure deterrence.
This activity contributes to achieving one of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4: Quality Education.
