The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific trip to two historic landmarks from the Abbasid era in Baghdad: the Abbasid Palace and Al-Mustansiriya School. The trip was attended by faculty members and fourth-year students from the Department of Arabic Language.

The visit aimed to introduce students to the architectural landmarks and arts of Baghdad during the Abbasid period, focusing on the Abbasid Palace and Al-Mustansiriya School, highlighting both their similarities and differences in architecture.

The key outcomes of this field study were to familiarize students with the significance of these two landmarks in Baghdad during the Abbasid era, tracing their history from their inception to the present day. The visit also showcased architectural features such as arches, porticos, decorations, and courtyards, as well as the location, size, number of floors, and rooms of each building. The students were encouraged to compare these two landmarks with each other and with other Islamic architectural styles.
