The Women’s Affairs Coordination Unit at the National Center for Population and Demographic Studies, under the Presidency of the University of Baghdad, organized a workshop titled “Domestic Violence: Causes and Solutions,” delivered by Dr. Muna Abdul Nabi Abbas, a faculty member.

The workshop aimed to shed light on the various forms and causes of domestic violence, as well as its psychological and physical effects resulting from trauma that impacts victims’ daily lives. It addressed ways to raise awareness about the concept and different forms of domestic violence, and emphasized the importance of providing psychological and social support to survivors. This support aims to help them overcome their crises, reintegrate into society without fear or anxiety, and recover from the traumas they experienced.

The workshop also explored the motives behind domestic violence, including social, economic, and psychological factors, while identifying its forms such as physical, psychological, and sexual violence.

In conclusion, the workshop highlighted the importance of combating domestic violence through measures such as preventive strategies, awareness programs to mitigate its negative effects, and the organization of sessions and workshops focused on this issue.

This workshop aligns with the directives of the Women’s Affairs Division at the University of Baghdad, which emphasize the need for educational seminars on the dangers, types, and methods of addressing domestic violence.
