The Department of Biology, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science at the University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled “SESAME Synctron Center” under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Faleh Hassan, and the presence of a number of students, teachers and those concerned with biological disciplines.

The workshop aimed to introduce SESAME Synctron Center and its applications in the field of scientific research in all fields, especially biological and the publication of high-quality scientific research, which is the first global center of excellence in scientific research in the Middle East, similar to the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Europe, and it represents a joint governmental organization among Member States in the region under the auspices of UNESCO.

The workshop included an introduction to biological applications at SESAME Center and presented its technologies provided and its accelerated production in the light of synchrotrons, which will be used in scientific research, education, and training through a number of ray packages that include X-rays, ultraviolet and infrared rays, indicating that there is an accelerator operation of electrons as well and at maximum energy and the specifications of the third generation for modern synchrotron accelerators and the introduction of X-ray and infrared lines for scientific research and experiments.
