The College of Engineering, Media and Government Communication Division, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, organized an educational seminar entitled “The Mechanism for Registering Light Weapons and Purchasing Medium Weapons” delivered by the representative of the Ministry of Interior, Lt. Col. Salam Sadiq Maktouf, as part of efforts to enhance community security.

The seminar aimed to educate citizens about the mechanisms of registering weapons and applying for license forms, as well as discussing the dangers of the proliferation of unlicensed weapons and their impact on societal peace.

Lieutenant Colonel Salam Sadiq gave a detailed explanation about the electronic mechanism launched by the ministry through the Ur Gate and its official website, which allows citizens to register their light weapons electronically. Maktouf also explained that the process includes filling out a form with the required information, followed by examining and documenting the weapon by specialized cadres, with the issuance of an official possession identity by strict legal controls, stressing that the possession of an unlicensed weapon exposes the citizen to legal accountability, calling on everyone to take advantage of the initiative to avoid penalties and ensure community security. He also pointed to the importance of reducing the indiscriminate use of weapons, especially during social events, pointing to the positive effects of the initiative in facilitating the tracking of uncontrolled weapons and reducing associated incidents.
