The Center for Urban and Regional Planning for Graduate Studies at the University of Baghdad organized the scientific workshop tagged (Artificial Intelligence and Urban Planning), under the supervision of the Dean of the Center, Prof. Dr. Karim Hassan Alwan, and presented by the lecturer at the Al-Nahrain Research Center for Renewable Energy at Al-Nahrain University, Assistant Lecturer Zaher Fadel Rahm, in the presence of professors of the two centers, graduate students and others.
The workshop dealt with the history and concept of the use of artificial intelligence and linking artificial intelligence to smart cities in light of the urban planning uses of artificial intelligence and ways to benefit from it in smart city planning.
The teacher explained the most important uses of artificial intelligence in urban planning, as it is involved in waste management, the method of recycling and disposal, the development of solutions in the field of energy, the maintenance, management, and protection of buildings in conjunction with the management of green places for cities. For his part, the Dean of the Urban Planning Center urged the need to choose artificial intelligence topics in research and scientific theses for professors and students to keep pace with developments in the field of planning and take advantage of modern technology for urban planning while listening to the interventions of professors that contributed to enriching the workshop. At the same time, the attendees stressed the importance of using and employing modern technology in scientific fields.
