The Assistant President of the University of Baghdad for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Suhail Najm Abdullah, discussed with the Director of the French Institute for the Near East, Miriam Katos, and the researcher at the Institute, Simon Baghlio, ways to enhance joint academic cooperation between the two sides, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul Amir and a number of academic figures at the university.

The meeting dealt with the possibility of holding conferences and scientific research on sociology topics, highlighting the most prominent sociologists in Iraq and benefiting from French experiences in this field, and the possibility of concluding a memorandum of understanding between the two sides, including joint supervision, exchange of researchers and training of students.

During the meeting, Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah said that the main goal of the University of Baghdad is to open up to international institutions, especially after the university adopts the Bologna process, calling on French students to join the study in Iraq initiative to enhance scientific cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, the Dean of the College of Arts called for an international scientific conference between the University of Baghdad and the French Institute of the Near East to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the founding of the College of Arts, dealing with the topics of the water crisis and the impact of environmental variables.

For her part, the President of the French Institute expressed her happiness with this visit, praising the scientific status of the University of Baghdad and its role in providing the academic community with creativity and innovation, and it was also agreed to continue dialogue and coordination to develop practical plans that enhance partnership to serve the common goals between the two sides.
