A number of researchers from the Center for Strategic and International Studies at the University of Baghdad participated in the annual scientific conference organized by the Department of Political and Strategic Studies at the House of Wisdom, in collaboration with the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad. The conference was titled “Palestine and Lebanon: A National and Human Liberation Issue.”

The conference discussed political and strategic changes in Iraq and the Middle East following the events of October 7th and beyond, with dozens of researchers presenting papers. The research papers addressed the roots and developments of the “Flood of Al-Aqsa” operation and its implications for the Palestinian cause, the Arab region, as well as the regional and international roles and legal and global positions on the issue.

The conference concluded with several recommendations, the most important of which was urging Iraqi academics to intensify their focus on the developments of the Palestinian cause, maintain its momentum in the Iraqi popular consciousness, especially among younger generations, and prioritize it as a fundamental and steadfast principle that reinforces the Palestinian people’s right to liberate their land and establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
