The lecturer in the Pharmaceutics Branch, Dr. Muwaffaq Muhammad Gharib at the College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad, in partnership with the researcher Dr. Noha Muhammad Abdul Khaliq, a teacher at Al-Mustafa University College, Department of Pharmacy, obtained a patent tagged with “Preparation and evaluation of capsules floating in the stomach from polylactic acid threads using three-dimensional printer technology” from the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control in the Ministry of Planning.

The thesis aimed to maintain long-term pharmacological release over 12 hours in the stomach by formulating floating gastric drug delivery dosage forms in two different ways using hot melt extrusion and molten precipitation modeling using a three-dimensional printer and then comparing the effectiveness and choosing the best method of manufacturing, thus reducing the side effects of the drug and enhancing patient compliance.
