The University of Baghdad hosted a celebration of Science Day, attended by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Niam Al-Aboudi, Undersecretary for Scientific Affairs, Prof.Dr. Haider Abd Dhahad, and Rector of the University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr. Munir Hamid Al-Saadi, along with several university presidents,deans, professors, and students.

The University of Baghdad has achieved the first position in the Outstanding University Award.It is a prestigious award that is given to universities that have demonstrated excellence in a variety of areas, including: The first is teaching as the university has a highly qualified faculty and offers a wide range of high-quality courses. The second is Research as the university has a strong research track record and produces high-quality research papers. The third is Community service as the university is committed to serving the Iraqi community and provides a variety of outreach programs.

During the ceremony, several faculty members from various formations of the university were honored in the fields of pure sciences, engineering, medicine, agriculture, veterinary, humanities, administration, and economics. The Outstanding Scientific Research Award was won by: Prof.Dr. Kauthar Khaled Ahmed from the College of Pharmacy, Prof.Dr. Maytham Ahmed Mohammed Al-Sumak from the College of Science, Prof.Dr. Samer Mohammed Jaber Abdul Razzaq from the College of Administration and Economics, Assist.Prof.Dr. Khamees Dhaham Musleh from the College of Arts, Assist.Prof.Dr. Jassim Mohammed Mahdi from the College of Engineering. Additionally, the Outstanding Book Author or Translator Award was achieved by: Assist.Prof.Dr. Khalida Hameed from the College of Education for Women, Prof. Manal Shaker Ali from the College of Science, Prof. Alaa Saleh from the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences.

During the honoring ceremony, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, emphasized in his speech that the educational institution’s achievements carry a collective responsibility for continuous development to enhance quality indicators and foster a scientific research environment. This, in turn, transforms universities and academic institutions into sustainable service centers satisfying the needs of society and the requirements of the national job market.
