The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Baghdad, has organized a ceremony to launch programmatic standards for Colleges of Veterinary Medicine in Iraq, in the presence of the Rector of the University of Baghdad, prof.Dr.Munir Al-Saadi, the Director of the Department of Quality Assurance and Academic Performance, prof.Dr. Omar Faleh, Prof.Dr. Hamid Ali Kazem, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, and a number of deans of colleges, of veterinary medicine in Iraq and members of the National Council for the Accreditation of Programs of Veterinary Colleges.
A word of prof. Dr. Salah Hadi Al-Fatlawi, Head of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Apparatus at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, was reported . The speech was talked about “the importance of these criteria that must come into practice in order to access local accreditation, and then to global accreditation.”
For his part, prof.Dr. Munir Al-Saadi, added in his speech “these standards are a national demand to improve the level of graduates of veterinary medicine colleges in a manner befitting this profession.” It is worth noting that the colleges of veterinary medicine are among the educational institutions that today need a revolution in their area from philosophical perspective, and in their educational systems and methods, continuous comprehensive evaluation, the development of their systems and programs, and the adoption of new standard levels in their programs and performance. In addition, the fields of veterinary education are no longer limited to animal health care and scientific research. The applicant is required to graduate a qualified veterinarian, conduct scientific and applied research, continue education, and serve the community in accordance with the requirements of the local and regional labor market.
