The University of Baghdad has witnessed yesterday the ceremony of the launch of the online scholarship application system (Study in Iraq Project) for the academic year (2023-2024), in the presence of His Excellency the minister of higher education and scientific research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, the rector of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, a number of representatives of embassies and university rectors. The ceremony started with reading some verses of Quran and playing the national anthem, then the minister of higher education gave a speech in which he indicated that the Iraqi academic institutions are keen to achieve scientific and research cooperation with Arab countries through the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils (FASRC) targeted towards attaining positive integration among Arab universities and research centers and referring to the importance of concluding scientific partnerships that may lead to achieving the objectives of sustainable development.
Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi stated that the university education is going to witness a crucial updating of educational systems and curricula, so the ministry of higher education is intended to receive foreign students who want to study in the Iraqi universities since they are competing academically with foreign universities in international rankings. He added that the free scholarships will be according to certificates provided by (47) Iraqi public and private universities so as to enhance the academic reputation of Iraqi universities by offering more than (600) scholarships for postgraduate students in various scientific and humanitarian disciplines which in turn prompt cultural diversity and twinning programs.
