The Quality Assurance Division at the College of Education for Women, has organized a scientific workshop on the (Sustainable Development in 2030: Concept, Goals, Indicators and Next) that was chaired by Prof. Dr. Adnan Yassin Mustafa in the presence of the heads of scientific departments and members of scientific committees at the college. He at first highlighted the goals of sustainable development in 2030 and the most important challenges that may be faced in Iraq when trying to achieve the sustainable development and the prospects for adapting to such changes in the Iraqi university environment as being a producer and transmitter of knowledge that seeks to serve the community. Dr. Adnan Yassin also highlighted the role of the university in implementing these goals and the need to organize workshops, conferences, conducting doctoral and master’s research for addressing this topic at all levels.

The workshop reached at a set of recommendations, the most important of which is the need to integrate sustainable development goals with the national planning issues, since transforming sustainable development goals or considering them as a tool for action, partnership-building, awareness and monitoring, is something the requires integrating them into the national planning process within a framework of international and regional partnerships at the social and environmental dimensions in order to improve the quality of life for the overwhelming majority of the population, raising their standard of living, providing social, health, cultural and other services. The participants in this event also called for encouraging the universities to compete positively among themselves to achieve the goals and objectives of sustainable development in a practical way.
