Prof. Dr. Afraa Ibrahim Al-Obaidi, a lecturer from the department of home economics at the college of education for women, has participated with a working paper entitled (Psychological effects associated with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)) within the international scientific symposium sponsored by the BRC Foundation in cooperation with the Faculty of Arts at the University of Kirkuk and the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Tikrit in addition to many sober universities, Arab and international institutions via the Google Meet service.

The paper included the definition of acquired immunodeficiency and AIDS, and how HIV infection turns into AIDS and the most important psychological effects associated with AIDS, including: depression, despair, anxiety, mania, suicidal ideation, and the infected may resort to drug abuse. The lecturer reached at a number of recommendations, the most important of which is to provide support, assistance to patients to increase their self-confidence to give them hope in fighting the disease and to practice life in a better way.
