The Department of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering has organized a workshop entitled “Prospects for the use of nanotechnology in the field of work of the chemical engineer”, in which Prof. Dr. Basma Abbas Abdul Majeed gave a lecture, in the presence of a group of professors of the department of chemical engineering, postgraduate students and the fourth grade students.

One of the most important things that were clarified in the workshop is the applications of nanotechnologies in the wide field, which are involved in many industrial, military, medical, agricultural and other fields, for example, a large group of raw materials are improved to make a change in the physical properties of small or nanoscales, and nanoparticles benefit, for example from a significant increase in surface area to volume ratio and when combined into a mass material, nanoparticles strongly affect the mechanical properties of the material, including hardness or ductility. As a result, the social benefit of nanoparticles can be expected to increase nano-fortified materials that will enable weight reduction associated with increased stability, as well as many other uses in various fields, including medicine, drug delivery to certain parts of the body, cosmetics, increased production efficiency, reduced energy consumption and many other uses.
