The College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad has organized a field visit to kindergartens accompanied by students of the third grade of the pediatric nursing branch and under the supervision of faculty members. The visit aimed to introduce students to the physical, psychological and social characteristics of pre-school children and the role of the nurse in distinguishing these characteristics from the sick children.

The visit included several kindergartens from the side of Karkh and Rusafa in Baghdad (Dijlah Kindergarten, Al-Hamra Palace Kindergarten, Al-Huria Kindergarten, Al-Jumhoria Kindergarten, Sindibad Kindergarten, Kadhimiya Kindergarten). The visit included measuring the weight and height of children using the children’s growth card approved by the ministry of health to diagnose the nutritional status of children, as well as teaching children hand washing and oral health using illustrations and a simple theatrical presentation by students of the third stage and under the supervision of professors.  Students also recognize by observing the behavior of children the presence of any behavioral disorders according to the age group through the theories of growth and development adopted globally. At the end of the visit, the faculty members and students expressed their thanks and appreciation to the kindergarten administration and the educational staff for their reception and cooperation in providing assistance and providing information about the children, students’ behaviors and activities.
