The Biological Research Unit for Tropical Regions, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, has organized a training course entitled: “The Fundamentals of Biostatistics” in the presence of a number of professors, researchers, students and those concerned with mathematics.

The course aimed to introduce the statistical programs used in data analysis and the types of statistical tests for each type of data, in addition to knowing the appropriate sample size for the experiment and the basics of the principles of biostatistics using the SPSS statistical program in its seventh number, in addition to life statistics in particular through the SPSS statistical program, the method of its installation, operation, data analysis and statistical interpretation, in addition to the types of samples, collection methods and the appropriate sample size.

The course was presented by Prof. Dr. Ali Hussein Adhiya, Assist. Prof. Dr. Fathaa Othman Samir, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ali Hafiz Abbas and Assist. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jaber Lafta who conducted a practical training on the use of IBM SPSS software platform, clarifying the appropriate sample size for the experiment and the appropriate types of statistical tests for the data obtained, both parametric and non-parametric data.
