The Pediatric Nursing Branch at the College of Nursing of the University of Baghdad has organized a field visit to Al-Zahra Center for Allergy and Asthma Diseases for the master’s students under the supervision of the faculty members aimed to identify chronic respiratory diseases among children and the role of the nurse in caring for the associated respiratory symptoms.
The visitors tried to conduct clinical examination of children suffering from respiratory symptoms associated with asthma, in addition to how to perform a percutaneous sensitization test using laboratory materials available at the center. The visit also included a detailed explanation by the nursing staff on how to use the fumigator for children in cases of breathlessness to relieve severe symptoms with the use of prescribed medicines. The students also provided educational instructions to the parents of children on the use of prescribed medicines correctly, ways to relieve respiratory symptoms inside the home and ways to prevent respiratory infection among children outside the home.
