The Department of Documentation of Baghdad at the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad has organized a workshop entitled (Baghdad’s Cultural Landmarks) in which the first research paper was presented by the director of the center Prof. Dr. Alaa Nafie Jassim, entitled (Al-Qamaria Mosque as a model of the landmarks of Baghdad) dealt with the interest of the people of Baghdad in establishing mosques and mosques because they are centers for worship and prayer as well as a place of knowledge and science for people.

Then the Director of the Arab Science Heritage Journal, Associate Prof. Dr. Zainab Kamel Kareem presented a research paper entitled (Hanging murals as an Iraqi icon) in which she spoke about a proposal submitted to the former Prime Minister Abd al-Karim Qasim Muhammad to establish a monument that commemorates the establishment of the republican system in Iraq in 1958, so the monument was designed in the form of a broad banner of 50 meters and a height of 8 meters, where the plastic artist Jawad Salim was assigned to work without any political influences. The head of the Department of Manuscripts, Prof. Dr. Wasan Hussein Mahmeed, also discussed in her research paper entitled (St. Joseph Chaldean Cathedral: One of the landmarks of Baghdad) the largest churches located in the capital, Baghdad, in Eastern Karrada on a wide land whose foundation was laid by Patriarch Yusuf VII Ghanima on the Day of the Feast of the Cross in 1952 and that was inaugurated in 1956.

The Assistant Lecturer Imtithal Kazim Sarhan presented a research paper entitled (Landmarks of Al-Kadhimiya Cultural City), to shed light on this holy city that is one of the most important Islamic cultural cities for Iraq as being an ancient city with its Islamic origins and cultures since Imam Musa ibn Ja’far al-Kazim (peace be upon him) and Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jawad (peace be upon him) who were buried in Al-Kadhimiya. Also she spoke about the religious schools and Baghdadi landmarks there since they are characterized by their unique architecture, libraries and cultural councils. The workshop was concluded by a study presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Iman Saleh Mahdi entitled (Al-Khalani Mosque) that is still a model of national unity for being a mosque and shrine of Sheikh Abi Jaafar Muhammad bin Othman bin Saeed Al-Omari Al-Asadi, who is a descendant of the great Companion Ammar ibn Yasir (May Allah Be Pleased With Him).
