Assist. Prof. Dr. Asmaa Muhammad Nouri and the PhD student Dunia Naseer Ali from the department of chemistry at the college of science, has obtained a patent entitled “Preparation of a new drug of Ciprofloxacin with Boron and some metal complexes as anticancer and for the evaluation of kidney function and liver enzymes for patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia” after fulfillment of the requirements required by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC).
This study aimed to inhibit cancer cells since the obtained results showed that the platinum complex of this compound was more effective in killing cancer cells (HepG2) than the compound (CQB), as the effectiveness of the prepared compounds was evaluated in clinical applications and the effect of the prepared compounds on liver enzymes and kidney function was studied via the analysis of 20 samples taken from healthy people and other 20 samples taken from people with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at different ages. The results showed that the prepared compound CQB and its complexes with copper, silver and platinum, had an excellent effect on liver enzymes and kidney function compared to the raw material (Ciprofloxacin) and the control group so they can be very effective in killing cancer cells.
