The Department of Manuscripts at the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad has organized a symposium entitled (Islamic Arts between Heritage and Contemporary) in the presence of a number of professors and researchers. The lecture included many research papers dealing with the diversity of Arabic calligraphy in the Holy Qur’an, the types of fonts by which the Qur’an is written, the problems and obstacles that calligraphers and designers face nowadays, in addition to the aesthetics of the environment and heritage in the Iraqi formation, pottery industry in Iraq and its importance in revealing the culture of each community through the ages and as it is a real indicator of technical and artistic development and the main source in archaeological studies. Also dealt with the decoration of the plaster walls and banknotes circulated, costumes of the writers and ministers in the Abbasid era (132-656 AH).
