The Department of English Language at the College of Education for Women, , held a symposium entitled (Comic Spirit in Literature) in the participation of 13 professors from inside and outside the college from the purpose of shedding light on the great and effective impact of comedy in the conscience of peoples and methods of using comedy as a means of reform. The professors reviewed a number of literary works that deal with social, political and economic problems as well as realizing the great impact of comedy as a therapeutic means and as a means of communication with others, since laughter is a good outlet towards joy in life, so they encourage graduate students to study comedy in modern literary works and compare them with classical literary works whether children’s literature or black comedy so as to identify their relationship to psychology and sociology.
